Methanation Catalyst

Methanation is the reaction which carbon oxides and hydrogen are converted to methane and water by nickel based catalysts.In industry, there are two main uses for methanation reaction, one is to purify synthesis gas, the other is to manufacture methane. Most of the COx is converted after shift conversion process, but trace COx still exited and should be removed to be sure it will not poison the downstream catalyst. Methanation is the final stage in the purification of synthesis gas, as known that most modern ammonia plants, also some older hydrogen plants use the methanation reaction to remove traces of carbon oxides from the process gas. In recent years, due to the rise of the natural gas price,the synthetic natural gas production through methanation would constitute an economical asset to reduce gas import dependence, such as the water gas production, the convenient methanation reaction is used to increase the content level of the CH4 to improve the heating value. The reaction is summarized as below:

CO+3H2 ⇌ CH4 + H2O

CO2+4H2 ⇌ CH4 + 2H2O

Application

META-J103H, an Nickel based methanation catalyst, Dia.5-6×5-20mm, Cylindrical extrudate, Bulk density: 800 – 900KG/m3, which is widely used in COx conversion to methane, the catalyst has very good physical strength, low temperature activity and thermal stability, this product can be provided both pre-reduced and oxidation state.

META-J103TH, an Nickel based methanation catalyst, Dia.5x5mm, Tablet, Bulk density: 850 – 950KG/m3, which is widely used in COx conversion to methane, the catalyst has very good physical strength, low temperature activity and thermal stability, this product can be provided both pre-reduced and oxidation state.
