Sulfur recovery catalyst is applied to the Sulfur Recovery Units, also known as Claus Units, use sour gas or acid gases as feed from sweetening units and sour-water strippers. The feedstock is sent into a proprietary burner system and the mixture of hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide reacts to form elemental sulfur which we call it Claus reaction. There are many sulfur recovery technologies available for different applications, however the most common conversion method used is the Claus process. Approximately 90 percent of the sulfur from the processing natural gas and refining high sulfur crude oils is recovered by the Claus process.
The reaction consists in two steps:
2 H2S +3 O2 → 2 SO2 + 2 H2O
2 H2S +SO2 → 3/2 S2 + 2 H2O
However, the Claus process typically recovers maximum 98 percent of the hydrogen sulfide feedstream. If necessary, a Tail Gas Treatment Unit (TGTU) is required to recover the remaining sulfur components, the customers can choose tail gas treatment options to further increase sulfur recovery. After tail gas treatment by CoMo catalyst, the Claus tail gas is catalytically purified, resulting in an overall sulfur recovery rate of up to 99.5% or higher.
SINOCATA offers both Claus Catalyst and Tail Gas Treatment Catalyst for Sulfur Reconvery Units.
Application
PSR-1, an alumina based Claus catalyst, Dia.4-6mm, Spheres, Bulk density: 680 – 750KG/m3, which is widely used in sulfur recovery units. PSR-1 provides large specific surface area, large pore volume, high physical strength, lower abrasion, high activity, high-temperature resistance and ageing-resistance.
PSR-21, a TiO2 promoted alumina Claus catalyst, Dia.4-6mm, Spheres, Bulk density: 680 – 750KG/m3, which is widely used in sulfur recovery units. PSR-21 can improve the hydrolysis rate of the COS/CS2 and total sulfur conversion rate.
PSR-31, a TiO2 based Claus catalyst, Dia.4-5mm, Cylindrical extrudate, Bulk density: 850 – 950KG/m3, which is widely used in sulfur recovery units fro COS/CS2 hyrolysis. PSR-31 catalyst is titanium dioxide catalyst with sulfation and poisoning resistance which provide high catalytic and COS/CS2 hydrolysis activity.
PSR-41, a FeSo4 promoted Claus catalyst, Dia.4-6mm, Spheres, Bulk density: 700 – 800KG/m3, which is widely used in sulfur recovery units for lacunae O2 protection. PSR-41 catalyst can protect alumina based catalyst from sulfate poisoning when lacunae O2 occurs, it works as oxygen scavenger in the sulfur recovery units.
PSR-51, a CoMo tail gas treatment catalyst, Dia.2-4mm, Spheres, bulk density: 700 – 800KG/m3, it is used in TGT units to maximize the total sulfur conversion rate. PSR-51 is the standard type TGT catalyst. Cylindrical extrudate shape is also available.
PSR-61, a CoMo tail gas treatment catalyst, Dia.2-4mm, Spheres, bulk density: 760 – 800KG/m3, it is used in TGT units to maximize the total sulfur conversion rate. PSR-61 is the improved type TGT catalyst which can work under lower temperature. Cylindrical extrudate shape is also available.
